A handmade, solid wood live edge coffee table from Woodfurnist costs $1,362.90 to $2,033.90, depending on the design and size (24 to 48 inches long). Sculptural coffee tables run $2,190 to $3,850, and a live edge console table costs $5,498.90 to $6,268.90. Shipping in the US is free. Size, the base design and the hours of hand finishing drive most of the price.

What each budget gets you
| Type of table | Woodfurnist price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Live edge slab coffee table | $1,362.90 to $2,033.90 | A live edge top cut from a single slab of solid hardwood, on a solid wood base, in four sizes from 24 to 48 inches. |
| Sculptural coffee table | $2,190 to $3,850 | Flowing, carved forms such as the Ribbon Arc Coffee Table, with color and surface options. |
| Live edge console table | $5,498.90 to $6,268.90 | A long slab (50 to 79 inches) on sculptural natural wood bases, for entryways and behind sofas. |

Six things that set the price
1. Size and slab thickness
A longer table needs a longer, wider piece of wood from one tree, and large slabs without cracks are harder to find. Thick slabs look substantial and resist warping, but use more wood and take longer to dry and flatten.
2. The wood itself
Species, grain and natural features such as burls all affect price. Highly figured wood costs more than plain, straight grain, and no two slabs look the same.
3. The base
A simple slab base is quick to make. A base carved from a natural root, branch or driftwood form takes many more hours and must be fitted to its top by hand. That is the main reason sculptural tables cost more. Carved and wave-shaped bases are covered in our sculptural coffee table guide.
4. Hand finishing
The natural edge has to be cleaned and smoothed without losing its shape, and the top is sanded through several grits before the finish goes on. This is where many of the hours go.
5. Made to order, not mass produced
Factory furniture stays cheap by repeating one design thousands of times. A live edge table cannot be repeated, because every slab is different.
6. Shipping
Solid wood is heavy, and freight can add a real amount at some retailers. At Woodfurnist, shipping is free on every order.
When two live edge tables are the same size, the price gap usually comes from the base and the hours of hand work, not from the top alone.
Solid slab, veneer or resin: how they compare
| Consider | Solid live edge slab | Veneer "live edge" look | Epoxy river table |
|---|---|---|---|
| What the top is | One piece of solid wood with its natural edge | A thin wood layer over a different core | Wood slabs joined with poured resin |
| Can it be refinished? | Yes, it can be sanded and refinished | Only lightly, the wood layer is thin | Yes, with care around the resin |
| Is each one unique? | Yes | Often repeats across listings | The wood is unique; the resin is a design choice |
| What to check | Growth rings visible through the thickness | A seam or different material at the edge | How much of the top is wood versus resin |
Where your money goes at Woodfurnist
Woodfurnist was founded in late 2024 by Edward, who came to the United States as an international student and wanted to bring truly handmade furniture into American homes. Today 20 artisans work in our workshop in Da Nang, Vietnam. They choose each slab, shape the base, sand and finish every table by hand, and sign the piece they made. Our US office is in Everett, Washington, and our customers rate us 4.9 out of 5 across 128 reviews. Weighing whether it is worth it long term? Read is live edge furniture out of style?

How long it takes
Because every table is made to order, production comes first: 7 to 10 business days to build and finish, then 5 to 7 business days for delivery in the US, or about 12 to 17 business days in total. Fully custom commissions usually take 4 to 8 weeks. Made-to-order pieces are not returnable unless they arrive damaged, defective or incorrect, so we confirm the size and details with you before we build.
How to choose the right size
- Length: about two-thirds the length of your sofa. A 72-inch sofa points to our L (40-inch) or XL (48-inch) size.
- Height: level with your sofa seat, or an inch or two lower.
- Clearance: roughly 14 to 18 inches between table and sofa, so you can walk past and still reach your coffee.
- Small rooms: our S (24-inch) and M (32-inch) sizes suit apartments and reading corners.
Lay painter's tape on the floor in the size you are considering and live with it for a day. It is the easiest way to check walking space before you order a piece that cannot be returned.
Is a live edge coffee table worth it?
If you want a piece that anchors your living room for many years, a solid wood live edge table is one of the few pieces of furniture that can be sanded and refinished instead of replaced. You also get something nobody else has: the grain, edge and shape of your table come from one tree and one maker. If you only need a surface for a few years, a lower-cost factory table may suit you better. To keep solid wood looking its best, read how to clean solid wood furniture.
